A rating you think is wrong

The most useful email this site gets. Ratings are computed rather than assigned, so "this is too low" is a claim about a method and can actually be checked. Please include:

• the player's name;
• which scale you were on — this season or all-time;
• the rating shown, and roughly what you expected;
• and, if you have one, the reason — a season the model may be leaning on too hard, an accolade it is not seeing.

Tuning happens in a published configuration file and every change is checked against a traditional-consensus test, so a good report can genuinely move a number. Read how the ratings work first if you want to aim it precisely.

A bug

Especially anything that lost you a game: a clock that behaved strangely, a bid that was refused for no visible reason, a room that would not open. Tell me what you were doing, what you expected, and what happened instead. If it was an online room, the six-character code helps.

A factual correction

Player statistics come from a public dataset and are processed before shipping, so errors are possible — a wrong position, a missing season, a portrait attached to the wrong man. These get fixed quickly because they are unambiguous.

Photo credits and licensing

Player photographs are Creative Commons images from Wikimedia Commons, each credited on the card it appears on. If you are the photographer and a credit is wrong, incomplete, or you want an image removed, write and it will be dealt with promptly.

Coverage and collaboration

If you write about basketball or make videos and want to play it on stream, the game is free and there is nothing to arrange. Say what would make it work better for your format — a longer bid clock reads more clearly on camera than ten seconds, and an all-time-only pool is a different show from the current season — and I will usually build it.

What I cannot help with

There are no accounts, so there is nothing to reset, recover or delete. Nothing here is betting advice, and the simulated result is a model rather than a prediction about a real game. And I cannot settle your argument about whether the 2016 Warriors beat the 1996 Bulls — but the game will happily let the two of you settle it yourselves.
